These terms govern your use of Soni Wallet, a mobile money service operated in The Gambia and licensed by the Central Bank of The Gambia. By creating a Soni account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use Soni. You must provide accurate information and complete the identity verification (KYC) we are required to carry out.
2. Your account
- Your Soni wallet is personal to you. Keep your PIN and login details confidential and do not let anyone else use your account.
- You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Tell us immediately if you lose your phone or suspect unauthorised access.
- We may ask you to re-verify your identity at any time to meet our regulatory obligations.
3. Using Soni
With Soni you can hold a balance and send money, receive money, buy airtime and data, and buy NAWEC cash power. You can load and withdraw funds through agents, linked bank accounts, and the other methods we make available.
4. Fees
- Sending money to a Gambian number costs a flat 1% of the amount sent.
- Receiving money, buying airtime and data, and buying cash power are free, and you pay the same price as the shop.
- Current fees are shown in the app before you confirm a transaction. We will give you notice of any changes.
5. Transactions
Always check the recipient's details before you confirm — transactions are processed immediately and may not be reversible once the funds have been collected. If you send money to the wrong number, contact us straight away and we will help where the funds have not yet been withdrawn.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Soni for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, money laundering, financing of terrorism, or any activity that breaches the laws of The Gambia. We may refuse, suspend, or reverse transactions that we reasonably believe are unlawful or high-risk.
7. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close your account where required by law or our regulator, where we detect fraud or misuse, or where you breach these terms. Where we can, we will tell you the reason and return any balance you are entitled to.
8. Availability
We work hard to keep Soni available, but we cannot guarantee the service will always be uninterrupted. We are not liable for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for losses that result from you sharing your PIN or login details.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will revise the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Soni after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of The Gambia, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts.
